I don’t really know why I call these “earth rings”. I think it’s because the greed and the brown. Anyways, these are spalted laurel oak mixed with a custom blend of green epoxy. The wood on these were from the ends of a laurel oak board I had from a larger project. It was pretty punky and I had to scrape and sand away the rotted parts. What was left was these beautiful spalted pieces. I used the epoxy to fill in between the cracks and holes to make a complete ring blank.



I’ve been practicing hand cut dovetails. That’s what you are seeing in the foreground and background.
