It’s time for another catch-up session, and this time we’re diving into a collection of miscellaneous woodworking projects from the past few years. Let’s take a look!
Simple Cypress Corbel
First up, a simple and elegant corbel crafted from cypress. Sometimes, all you need is a touch of decoration to make a corner pop. This was a straightforward project, designed to fit a specific spot and add a bit of charm.
Kobalt Workbench Transformation
Next, we have a pretty cool transformation. This project started with a basic Lowe’s Kobalt workbench and turned it into a fantastic shop storage solution. Enclosed within a set of drawers, this workbench offers both functionality and beauty. The narrow side cabinets are perfect for storing router bits. While I can’t take credit for the design and work on this (thanks, Dad!), the cypress wood made it far more beautiful than initially planned.
Functional Hand Saw Till
A simple but essential project: a hand saw till made of poplar. Functionality was the key here, and the hand-cut dovetails at the bottom add a touch of classic craftsmanship. While the sides aren’t hand-carved (CNC to the rescue!), the overall result is a practical and well-made addition to the workshop.
IKEA Desk Hack
Finally, an IKEA hack with a woodworking twist! While an IKEA desk might not be the typical choice for a woodworker, its functionality is undeniable. However, the original particle board top had to go. The replacement? A stunning white oak top, finished with aging oil to match the antique white oak furniture in the office. Retaining the metal frame added a modern touch, while the carefully fitted top and breadboard ends ensure the desk stays flat over time. The curve added a layer of complexity, blending classic woodworking techniques with a contemporary design. The before-and-after photos truly showcase the transformation.
I hope you enjoyed this look back at some of my older projects. It’s always fun to revisit these creations and see how far we’ve come. Stay tuned for more woodworking adventures!
